IGLTA Foundation Scholarship Program
Shaping the future of LGBTQ+ tourism
The IGLTA Foundation LGBTQ+ Tourism Scholarship is an important initiative that provides financial assistance to LGBTQ+ students pursuing tourism studies. The scholarship helps to foster the next generation of professionals who are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to analyze the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in the tourism sector.
Tourism is an essential component of the global economy, and it is critical that the industry is inclusive and welcoming to everyone. Unfortunately, LGBTQ+ travelers often face discrimination and prejudice when traveling, which can impact their safety, well-being, and enjoyment of the destination.
By providing financial support to LGBTQ+ students, the IGLTA Foundation is helping to create a more inclusive tourism sector. Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge needed to address the challenges facing LGBTQ+ travelers and develop innovative solutions to promote a more inclusive tourism industry.
The IGLTA Foundation LGBTQ+ Tourism Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for LGBTQ+ students who are passionate about promoting inclusivity and diversity in the tourism sector. By supporting the next generation of professionals, the scholarship helps to ensure that the tourism industry is welcoming to all travelers, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Providing these scholarships underscores the importance of promoting inclusivity in tourism and creating a more accepting world for everyone.
The IGLTA Foundation LGBTQ+ Tourism Scholarship is a new offering to support the next generation of LGBTQ+ tourism professionals. Two scholarships will be awarded to participate in the master’s degree program in LGBTQ+ tourism at CETT, Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy at the University of Barcelona. The program will provide the personal and professional knowledge to analyze the challenges in the tourism sector related to the LGBTQ+ community and innovate for future development.
Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to join a unique international program, offered online in English at no cost, and lead the change of the sector in favor of a new tourism model based on respect and inclusion. This scholarship was created in 2021 with the generous collaboration of Queer Destinations.
The scholarship is open to IGLTA members and their staff globally who meet the CETT criteria below.
To prepare professionals with a robust formative base in terms of the gender perspective and the LGBTQ+ collective to innovate in the tourism sector and ensure the development and evolution of institutions, organizations, and tourist destinations.
To provide students with the necessary tools and techniques for the analysis and diagnosis of current and future strategic challenges in the tourism sector linked to the LGBTQ+ collective to ensure respect, equality, and sustainability of companies and destinations.
Encourage creativity so that innovative, cross-cutting, and respectful proposals can be generated to transform the tourism sector.
