Robert Leckel joins the association’s global staff to grow the membership community in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Munich, Germany (6 March, 2023) — IGLTA is excited to welcome Robert Leckel (he/him) to the global team as a new regional Membership Coordinator. Based in Munich, Robert will play an important role in fostering connections and building relationships in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He will work closely with Martina Barth, IGLTA’s Membership Development Manager for Africa, the UK and Germany.

Robert brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a Partner Manager with Munich Tourism—a longtime IGLTA member—for over two decades. In recent years, Robert has also worked closely with the LGBTQ+ tourism sector through Munich Tourism, which he will continue to do while supporting IGLTA.

“We are thrilled to have Robert join the IGLTA team,” said John Tanzella, IGLTA's President/CEO. “Robert's extensive experience and expertise in the tourism industry, particularly in cultivating relationships in Eastern Europe, make him an invaluable addition, and we’re grateful to the Munich Tourism office for sharing him. I'm confident that Robert will help us expand our global network and bring our members more opportunities to connect."

“We are pleased to announce this coordinated effort to further expand tourism in the Eastern European markets. Munich Tourism is a proud member of the IGLTA network and looks forward to continuing this important relationship for years to come,” said CEO of Munich Tourism, Events and Hospitality, Benedikt Brandmeier

Munich Tourism has been a dedicated member of IGLTA for more than 20 years, and the creation of this position to support IGLTA is a true testament to their commitment to inclusive tourism. Robert will join other members of the IGLTA team at ITB Berlin 7-9 March in the LGBTQ+ Pavilion, Hall 4.1 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.
