São Paulo (28 February 2018)—BRAZTOA (Brazilian Association of Tour Operators) announced today two new strategic partners, including the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association. The objective is to increase market sales and have better understanding of the needs of the LGBT public. BRAZTOA also signed an agreement of cooperation with the Brazilian LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
"We are living a new era of tourism on different fronts and we need to be able to sell to all audiences in a personalized way,” said Magda Nassar, president of BRAZTOA. “The LGBT tourist spends an average of 30% more and travels four times more than other segments, which shows the importance of creating products that meet with excellence and quality.”
These agreements provide for event collaboration as well as trainings and seminars to further improve experiences for LGBT travelers.
"It is with great pride that we enter into a partnership with BRAZTOA, an organization that leads the way in uniting tour operators and service providers in Brazil to promote both inbound and outbound tourism," said IGLTA President/CEO John Tanzella. "IGLTA has seen incredible growth in Brazil in recent years and it's through the support of allies like BRAZTOA that we are able to continue increasing the understanding of LGBT tourism in Brazil and around the world."
Brazil has the second largest number of IGLTA member businesses in the world. Only the United States has more.
"Brazil is a very important market for our association,” said Clovis Casemiro, IGLTA Membership Coordinator for Brazil. “Through this agreement with BRAZTOA we will be able to work together to increase the business in this segment in a strong and solid way. We want to bring more information and offer better service to LGBT travelers.”
BRAZTOA’s first LGBT participation will take place in São Paulo, on 24 April, during the 2nd International Conference on LGBT Diversity and Tourism.
"LGBT Tourism has been standing out as one of the segments in world tourism. The companies in the sector are looking for information on how to serve this public that does not really want a differentiated treatment, but rather wants the equal care given to any tourist, with the same quality and respect, " said Ricardo Gomes of the Brazilian LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. "In this event, BRAZTOA, in addition to supporting us and helping to bring specialists in the subject, can bring its associates to participate in the event and learn more about the sector.”
