Bhutan lies in the heart of Himalayas sandwiched in between China and India. Almost the size of Switzerland, Bhutan has long been sequestered from rest of the world for centuries. Its pristine environment, rich culture and friendly people make one of the most sough-after destinations today.
This tour will give you an experience of what the dragon kingdom has to offer you in western Bhutan. Visit the ancient sites such as 7th century Kichu Temple and plethora of Dzongs and temples. Hike to the most famous Tiger’s Nest monastery. Stroll through local townships and mingle with locals in a famous farmers centenary market, eat in a traditional Bhutanese restaurant to experience local cuisines. Hike through amazingly pristine hillsides, high mountains passes and experience adrenalin-pumping rafting at the Phochu River in Punakha valley.
Day One: Arrive Paro International airport
See the most sacred 7th Century old Kichu Temple and Rinpung Dzong or the Fortress of Heaps of Jewels. Evening free time in Paro town.
Day Two: Road Excursion with a Punic lunch
Drive to 3999m Chele La pass, the highest pass in western Bhutan, hoist Buddhist prayer flags at the pass. Visit the Nunnery and Sky Burial at 4200m high ridge Kung Karpo.
Day Three: Haa Valley
Full day sightseeing in Haa includes leisurely hike to the hilltop monastery and a village tour. View of the Haa chu river and Katsho village below is superb.
Day Four: Drive to Thimphu via Chela la pass; sightseeing in Thimphu
Stunning view of Haa valley. Drive to Thimphu through confluence. See the Thimphu city that has blend of modern and traditional set up.
Day Five: Embark on 3 hours exhilarating drive to Punakha via 3100m Dochula Pass.
Morning visit includes the highest 162 feet bronze Buddha statue in the world at
Kuensel Phodrang. Continue drive to Punakha valley via spectacular 3100m Dochula pass. Listen to the legends and cult of Devine Madman. Visit the fertility temple and the village beneath.
Day Six: Two hours hike along downstream of Mochu River along the villages and pine forests; Rafting on Mochu River with a picnic lunch
See the longest suspension bridge that connects Punakha with other villages. Enjoy 2-hours hike against downstream of Punakha river and Rafting on Punakha river with a picnic lunch on the sandy embankment on the way.
Day Seven: Drive to Paro with a lunch in Thimphu; on clear weather you will have amazing views of chain of mountains from the pass
Drive to Paro via Dochula Pass. You will visit the famous Centenary Farmers’ Market, a congregate of locals who sell their farm produce.
Day Eight: Hike to Tiger’s Nest, the Glory of Guru Rinpoche
The Tiger’s Nest is the most famous and sacred site for Himalayan Buddhists. The monastery is built on a sheer solid rock face measuring 3000 feet and sits above 900 meters high from Paro valley.
Day Nine: Departure to your onward destination
Drive to the airport for departure. Our guide will bid you farewell.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: We select your hotels with an ambience. We use 3-4 star hotels in different locations, which are clean and well maintained ones with choices of meals.
LUXURY HOTEL OPTIONS: Our package cost includes government approved 3-4 star hotels. However if you wish to stay in upscale and luxury accommodations Bhutan has many options for you. We have some luxury hotels like Aman, Uma Hotel, Lee Meridian, Zhiwaling Hotel, Termalinca Resort, Hotel Taj Tashi etc.
GUIDE SERVICE: Our guides are trained and certified by the Government. They are knowledgeable and friendly.
CAR: We use comfortable 4WD car for FITs and for the large groups we use Japanese imported Toyota Hi-Ace and buses.
CUSTOM-MADE TOUR: We can also customize your tour based on your time frame and interests. We offer highly customized anf personalized services.
