BARCELONA (14 February 2018)—Rainbow Gay Tours founder/CEO Eloi Morte steps in this month as the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s ambassador in Spain, a volunteer role that assists with membership support and development throughout the country. In addition to operating Rainbow Gay Tours, which provides experiences throughout Europe, Morte also runs BCNDreamsTours, offering Barcelona experiences for families, and Snow Gay Weekend, Spain’s largest gay ski weekend.

“Eloi is incredibly enthusiastic and has offered many wonderful ideas for increasing our engagement in Spain, which has the largest IGLTA membership in Europe,” said IGLTA President/CEO John Tanzella. “We were deeply saddened last year by the unexpected passing of our former ambassador in Spain, David Martin, and appreciate that Eloi has shown such commitment to increasing visibility for Spain’s many great regions among LGBTQ+ travelers.”

Morte has worked in aviation and tourism for more than eight years. In 2013, he decided to launch his own company to specialize in private gay tours, which continues to expand. He is also the director of ACEGAL, the Catalan Gay and Lesbian Business Association.

“I believe there is a long way to go to increase the number of gay travelers moving between Latin America and Europe, and one of the easiest ways to visit the old continent is through gay-friendly and sunny Spain,” Morte said. “If we help the companies of IGLTA to promote travel packages between these countries and if there is an increase in marketing campaigns and agreements between companies from both sides, there will be more travellers, more revenue for travel companies, and more visibility for IGLTA. It’s an honor to join the IGLTA family and I’m excited to get to work.”

IGLTA's program of global volunteer ambassadors allows the association to better serve its member businesses in more than 75 countries. If you’d like to connect with Morte, please email spain@iglta.org. Also: LinkedIn: eloimorte and Twitter @eloimorte.
