On April 3, 2018, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an ordinance to name Terminal 1 (T1) of the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) after the slain San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk; the city’s first openly gay supervisor and the first openly gay elected official in the history of California. Harvey Milk Terminal 1 is currently undergoing a $2.4 billion redevelopment, and the new sections will open in phases starting in July 2019.
