Welcome to Lexington, Kentucky - the Horse Capital of the World.  Kentucky’s second largest city is home to a population of 325,000 and hosts a vibrant downtown scene sitting just miles away from world famous horse farms in the rolling hills of the Bluegrass.

In 1999, Lexington was the first local government in Kentucky to pass a county-wide, fully-inclusive Fairness Ordinance including protection from employment, housing and public accommodations discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.  In 2021, Lexington scored a 106 on the Human Rights Campaign Municipal Equality Index – the highest score of any city in Kentucky. The city currently has over two dozen organizations providing support and outreach to LGBTQ+ residents – including the Mayor’s Office and Lexington Police Department that both have LGBTQ+ Liaisons.

And right now, our restaurant scene is on fire, with local restaurants, cafés, food trucks and bistros popping up at every turn—food fanatics will leave here craving another bite. And they don’t call us the Best Place in America to Grab a Drink for nothing - get a craft beer at one of the 21 breweries on our Brewgrass Trail, or head to one of the 15 bourbon distilleries within 45 miles of our downtown and sip it straight from the source.
