How to Get Featured in IGLTA's New LGBTQ+ Travel Chatbot
IGLTA has teamed up with the Paris-based startup company Hopstay to develop an LGBTQ+ travel chatbot to assist travelers in planning their trip. The chatbot, which is in beta version and resides within Facebook Messenger, is available on desktop, tablet or smartphone and provides LGBTQ-welcoming travel opportunities worldwide from IGLTA members in more than 80 countries.
Travelers are becoming more tech savvy and rely on social media and mobile devices when planning and looking for inspiration for their next trip. The LGBTQ+ travel chatbot not only provides insight for travelers who know where they want to go but also provides inspiration and recommendations for those who aren’t quite sure where to go next. The Inspire Me feature can event suggest LGBTQ-welcoming tours, events and special offers around the world that a traveler may not have previously found in their research.
IGLTA members will also benefit from an additional mobile channel that will drive on-the-go LGBTQ+ travelers to their offerings, products and services, which are all housed on the IGLTA website. One of the primary benefits of IGLTA membership is the ability to create a dynamic business profile on the IGLTA website. Your profile includes a business description, photos and social media links plus you can identify specific travel categories and associate your business with multiple destinations.
Post Events, Tours & Specials
IGLTA members can post events, tours and specials related to their business products and services on the IGLTA website, which further increases exposure via the chatbot. Once these are listed, they not only appear individually on the IGLTA website, but also in several places within the chatbot discovery platform including destination specific searches and through the Inspire Me function in the chatbot.
Associate Your Business with Multiple Countries
If applicable, you can associate your business with multiple countries in your profile, which will allow your business to be displayed in more relevant places on both the chatbot and the IGLTA website. With multiple selections, your products and services are more easily discovered by LGBTQ+ travelers who are interested in specific destinations. Be sure to only list countries where your business actually operates.
Update Your IGLTA Profile
The IGLTA travel chatbot is more than just a listing of members based in a particular country. Instead, the intent is to provide a consumer-friendly discovery and planning platform and the most effective way to be featured is to post Events, Tours and Specials. However, in some cases, the member profile may also be featured so you’ll want to make sure your business profile is updated. If your profile doesn’t have a complete, accurate and quality description of your business’s products and services, along with enticing images, it will not draw the attention of travelers visiting the chatbot and you’ll be less likely to receive a referral web visit. Furthermore, incomplete profiles send a poor signal to travelers and your business won’t appear to be a useful or credible source of travel information or services.
