For almost 20 years, MGM Resorts International® has worked passionately and diligently to weave inclusion throughout the fabric of their culture. “Diversity touches all aspects of our business, from our workforce to our guests, to our business partners and our communities around the world,” says Kenthea Pedraza, Corporate Communications Manager of MGM. “We are proud to be recognized for our diversity efforts and will continue to keep diversity as a top priority.”

MGM takes great pride in their seven-year Global Partnership with IGLTA. “IGLTA is an organization that promotes equality and safety within the global LGBTQ+ community,” says Pedraza. “We have mutual interests in advancing equality for the LGBTQ+ community and the outreach to our customers.” Both the MGM Grand Detroit and MGM Grand Las Vegas are members of IGLTA.

With a reputation for delivering high-caliber and memorable event experiences, MGM puts a significant amount of energy into hosting LGBTQ+ events and marketing their event spaces to the LGBTQ+ community. “This year, Luxor celebrated its 10-year anniversary for Temptation Sundays, Las Vegas’ longest-running gay pool party," she says. "We’ve also hosted receptions for the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce during their annual convention at one of our properties.”

LGBTQ+ couples are also a key target market for MGM, she adds. “One of our main focuses in the LGBTQ+ market is to be a leading hospitality company for hosting LGBTQ+ weddings at our resorts. We have numerous wedding offerings at our resorts that cater to all couples.”

In an effort to connect with LGBTQ+ wedding couples on a deeper level, MGM launched the Universal Love – Wedding Songs Reimagined album in 2018, comprised of same-sex wedding songs by various artists and promoted by MGM Resorts. What’s special about the album is that It features wedding songs with gender-specific terms adjusted to refer to the same gender as the singer.

The resort company also advertises with Equality Magazine as well as with Her HRC. The mission of HER HRC is to gather women to both celebrate and build a greater sense of community while learning about the importance of engaging in the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement.

Pedraza shares that MGM is also involved with several national and local LGBTQ+ organizations, as active members and sponsors. “Many of our Employee Network Group members are active participants of the annual Pride Parade among other groups, including local Human Rights Campaign chapters.”

These are the other organizations that MGM is a member of and supports through involvement and sponsorship:

-IGLTA Foundation

-Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce of Nevada (GLCCNV)
