As part of the charitable drive, actors/activists Jeremy Pope and Indya Moore of FX's Pose star in social videos, art directed and filmed by Pope, in which they share intimate stories about their journey to becoming who they are today. They then invite their Instagram followers to visit Orbitz.com/thejourney to thank a friend or family member who has helped them on their journey to self-love and acceptance. For every thank you message sent from 1-6 December, Orbitz will donate US$20, up to a total of US$50,000, to the IGLTA Foundation, which provides education, research and leadership development that benefits the global LGBTQ+ tourism industry. “We are incredibly grateful to Orbitz for championing our foundation for Giving Tuesday,” said IGLTA Foundation Chair Reginald Charlot. “The pandemic has hit tourism especially hard, and while travel is a luxury for many of us, it’s also a means to self-discovery and a way of promoting greater understanding of LGBTQ+ people. We’ve seen firsthand how travel can open minds.” Upcoming IGLTA Foundation initiatives include a guide for LGBTQ+ travelers with HIV, an expanded program to support LGBTQ+ businesses in emerging destinations, and development of an IGLTAF Transgender Advisory Council to increase awareness of the issues facing transgender travelers.
