The IGLTA Foundation convention scholarship program was created to support the next generation of LGBTQ travel professionals and allies. Recipients will have their travel expenses and registration covered to attend the IGLTA Annual Global Convention in Toronto, 9-12 May 2018. 2nd UNWTO LGBT Report examines outlook for gay and lesbian travel

In conjunction with the leading International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) and following its first report in 2012, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has published a second report on the role of the increasingly important LGBT travel market. As the World's Largest Travel Trade Fair and as part of its strategy to promote social responsibility, ITB Berlin is committed to firmly establishing the LGBT segment while also dispelling preconceptions. According to the report, in recent years the LGBT travel market has experienced a general upturn.

LGBT tourism, Milan ready for the welcome. In Italy, turnover of 2.7 billion

Milan is increasingly open to the affirmation of rainbow rights. The Lombardy capital, thanks to a collaboration between the City of Milan and the Italian Association of Gay and Lesbian Tourism (AITGL) , with the support of the U.S. consulate, was in fact nominated by the National Tourism Agency (ENIT) to host in 2020 the 37th convention organized by the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).

Newcastle Pride boosts North East economy by £9.2 million

One of the U.K.'s largest LGBT festivals has helped boost the North East's economy by more than £9 million. Newcastle Pride is one of the largest free events of its kind in the country. Edie Windsor, equality champion, longtime Villager, dies at age 88

Edie Windsor, who became a worldwide icon at age 84 when her lawsuit against the U.S. government led the Supreme Court, in 2013, to strike down the key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, has died at age 88. "I lost my beloved spouse, Edie, and the world lost a tiny but tough-as-nails fighter for freedom, justice, and equality," Judith Kasen-Windsor, who married Windsor last September, said in a written statement.

Israel to amend adoption law, give same-sex couples equal rights

The Israeli government said it would amend adoption law in the country to give same-sex couples equal rights. The state made the announcement recently during a hearing at the Supreme Court in response to a petition regarding adoption by same-sex and common-law couples filed by the Association of Israeli Gay Fathers, with the Israel Religious Action Center of the Reform movement, against the Social Affairs Ministry and the attorney general.

Serbia's gay PM is 1st in region to attend pride parade

The prime minister of Serbia has become the first head of government in a Balkan country to take part in a gay pride march. Ana Brnabic is the first gay person, as well as the first woman, to lead Serbia. Gay pride parades in the country have not always gone ahead. Seven years ago, more than 100 people, mostly police, were injured when a group of anti-gay protesters attacked the rally in Belgrade.
