Barcelona was the birthplace of the gay, lesbian and transsexual movement in Spain when, in 1970, the country's first clandestine group was formed in the city. Since then, civil associations have advanced a great deal, and the brave struggle for equality and public recognition of the existence of the LGBT community has allowed for a mainly positive social attitude towards homosexuality to develop.

For second year, Barcelona is getting ready to welcome you this June 2010 to the Mediterranean's most important Gay Pride, Pride Barcelona'10. 30 associations, businesses and the entire LGBT community have come together to organise a new Pride in Barcelona which will provide culture, sport, debate, entertainment and parties for a whole week. It is a free and non-profit making celebration which will show the best the city has to offer, and will also include the main towns in Catalonia as part of a high profile initiative.

From 18 to 28 June 2010, Pride Barcelona will be the Gay Pride of the Mediterranean. We will enjoy the city of Barcelona and all the diversity that Catalonia offers at an event which is preparing all sorts of activities, including film, culture, entertainment, sport and debates. It will end with a parade full of colour and a great free party on Sunday 27 June.

The setting for this parade will be Barcelona's carrer Sepúlveda and the Avinguda Maria Cristina, at the foot of the Palau Nacional. This is the venue for the institutions' exhibition and the great Pride Barcelona closing party.

During the week prior, many venues in Barcelona and other Catalan towns will be hosting many other activities, ranging from the LGBT Fire! film festival LGBT to an amateur sports competition.

Madrid, LGTB capital of Spain, has a population of 500.000 gays in all the region and is visited annually by 3 million LGTB guests, specially during the Madrid Gay Pride MADO, the most important event. While the Pride is taking place there is leisure, cultural and sportive events oriented to the LGTB community such as Muestra-T and too many more yearly like the Lesgaicinemad and the Sun Games. Once again, Madrid will become the epicentre of Gay Pride celebrations. According to the organizing non-profit groups - AEGAL, COGAM Lesbian, Gay, Transsexual and Bisexual Association of Madrid and FELGTB, LGTB State Federation, Madrid will host the Gay Pride festivities from June 25th to July 4th, 2010, including International Gay Pride Day taking place on Saturday July 3th. Madrid's Gay Pride, one of the most long-awaited events in the Spanish capital. Every year, thousands of people flock to the city to take part in the festivities, concerts and performances, combining their stay with visits to the city's museums and monuments, and tours around Madrid and its environs. Madrid's Gay Pride festivities are considered some of the most emblematic and participative celebrations in the world. So much so that the LGTB travel website 'Trip Out Gay Travel' -affiliated to the MTV-managed LOGO channels- has chosen the City of Madrid as the city with the Best Gay Event in the world in its annual survey, and also nominated the capital as one of the Sexiest Destinations in the world.
